About the Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana

The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana is a state of the art sleep center and the only nationally accredited sleep lab in the Southwest Louisiana area. Our accreditation is through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. We specialize in the diagnosis and management of many sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, shift worker’s sleep disorder, insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness and narcolepsy.

The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana was established and began operation on March 1, 2000. Dr. Jana P. Kaimal, founder and Medical Director of the Sleep Center, is the only Board Certified Sleep Specialist in Southwest Louisiana. In February of 2006, Kenneth Gary, Nurse Practitioner, was added to the team. In June of 2007, Michelle Zimmerman, NP, returned to practice with Dr. Kaimal after a short period in Nashville, TN where she practiced sleep medicine at Vanderbilt University. On July 8, 2008, Dr. Phillip Conner began his sleep fellowship under the direction of Dr. Kaimal.

Our trained and registered Sleep Technologists perform sleep studies at night, as well as some daytime testing. As an added convenience to our qualified patients, in 2003 we added a CPAP Director to focus on the set up and initiation of CPAP therapy for those patients needing treatment for sleep apnea.

In March 2007 we opened our first satellite location at 217 Sam Houston Jones Parkway, Suite 102 in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Our newest lab in Jennings, Louisiana opened in August 2007.

What to expect from a visit at the Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana

We provide the best care to our patients as well as excellent customer satisfaction. We strive to make all patients visits to our office and/or sleep lab a comfortable and unique experience.

Our Lake Charles location offers four sleep rooms with separate lavatory facilities for each patient. Our Moss Bluff and Jennings locations each have two rooms.

Each patient is asked to complete a short survey when leaving the facility to ensure that we exceeded their satisfaction.

A.W.A.K.E.

ALERT, WELL AND KEEPING ENERGETIC is a monthly support for our patients as well as an educational meeting for the general public pursuing information related to sleep. The meetings consist of a guest speaker, information on sleep, tours of the sleep lab, door prizes, free refreshments and a good time.
